Governor's Reception Area
Second
Floor West Wing
This room
served as the first office of the first Governor in the new Capitol Building in 1910.
All the furniture pieces are constructed of antique mahogany, and are part of a
matching set. This was the first room to undergo restoration. The light fixtures in the
Reception Area are original. Most of the furniture in this room is the original furniture
from 1910, which includes:
The large desk and large
chair behind the desk
The large conference table and chairs
The sofa-like furniture
in the NE corner area of the room
The gold designs on the
walls and ceiling (above) are a gold plaster relief.
The dark green carpet
border symbolizes the size of the original area rug which was laid in the center of the
room.
