While Gov. Bill Janklow steadfastly refused to have a portrait painted during his lifetime, his family commissioned portraiture following his death in 2012.  Watertown artist Joshua Spies received the commission to paint two portraits of the former Governor – one representing the Governor’s 1979-1987 terms and the other for his 1995-2003 terms.  The portraits are currently being painted and are expected to be complete by the close of 2013.
