Federal Surplus Property handles surplus Federal Government property and late model federal vehicles. This property is available to public agencies and certain nonprofit agencies within South Dakota for their use. At the present time, Federal Surplus Property has 1,480 active accounts. In Fiscal Year 2015, $4.5 million in surplus property and $3.4 million in late model vehicles were turned over to the eligible accounts. Federal Surplus Property is self supporting; no tax dollars are appropriated for this operation.
This agency operates two distribution centers - one at Huron and one on the west edge of Box Elder, SD. The Administrative offices are located at the Huron site. Both Centers are open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Both remain open through the noon hour for customer convenience.
