The Bureau of Administration works to coordinate public record requests throughout the executive branch. Here are some links to help you if you have questions regarding public records.
Use of Public Property and Office Buildings
The State of South Dakota has many areas and facilities, including several in the State Capitol itself, available for public events, weddings, and displays. Use of these facilities requires prior application and approval by the Office of the Commissioner of the Bureau of Administration.
State Auction Dates and Flyers
State Surplus Property is made available to the public during public auctions, special public direct sales, and sealed bid opportunities.
Tours of the State Capitol
Visitors to the State Capitol may tour the Capitol on their own with guidance from a self-guided tour script available in the Capitol building, or by pre-scheduling a guided tour provided upon prior request from a volunteer tour guide, based upon the availability of volunteer tour guides. A minimum 48-hours (Business days) advanced notice is requested for guided tours.
Memorial Flag Program
Started in 1987, the Memorial Flag Program honors deceased military veterans. United States flags are flown by the State in Hilgers Gulch Park on certain holidays and other special occasions. Memorial Flag Registry
Purchase United States, South Dakota State, and POW-MIA Flags and Accessories
The Central Supply office has available for purchase US, South Dakota, and POW-MIA flags in several different sizes and fabric applications.

Capitol Complex Restoration and Beautification Commission
In 1976, the Legislature created the Capitol Complex Restoration and Beautification Commission to oversee the restoration and renovation of the public areas of the Capitol.
The South Dakota State Capitol
On June 25, 1908 when the corner stone for the South Dakota State Capitol was laid, Governor Coe Crawford said in his address: "The new capitol will do more than comfortably accommodate the officers who are to labor within its walls for the people whom they will serve. It will stand throughout the coming years as an expression of beauty and art, and as the people come and go and linger within its walls, they will see in it an expression of the soul of the state."
